Mg/Zn metal‐air primary batteries using silk fibroin‐ionic liquid polymer electrolytes

Batteries are utilized in a multitude of devices encountered our daily lives. Here we describe comparative study Magnesium-air and Zinc-air primary batteries using silk fibroin-ionic liquid polymer electrolytes (composed Bombyx mori fibroin choline nitrate). The ionic conductivity the films was order mS cm−1 which is sufficient to satisfy requirements for many battery applications, open circuit voltages (V) Mg 1:1 SF:IL 1:3 just after fabrication were ca. 1.8 1.7 V, respectively; had capacity 0.84 mAh cm−2, whereas 0.68 cm−2. Zn range 1.3 1.2 V fabrication; displayed 0.96 cm−2 0.72 Integration PE substitution carbon cloth electrodes with degradable materials would offer routes production transient helping address global issue electronic waste (e-waste).
